General information

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) is a community-based environmental agency that provides services to our watershed residents. We are responsible for the management of renewable natural resources in our watershed. We offer a broad range of programs, including watershed management, flood forecasting, and environmental education.

The LRCA provides opportunities for the public to learn from, enjoy and respect Ontario's natural environment. We improve quality of life by actively providing open space and protecting property from flooding and erosion, as well as restoring and conserving natural habitats. We offer field trips to our conservation areas and in-class programming. We also host annual public events and guest speakers.

We offer several annual programs as well as information on what homeowners can do to maintain the optimal health of the Watershed. Whether you’re planting trees, developing your property, or enjoying our conservation areas, it is all our responsibility to be Watershed Stewards.
